Because the Friends of the Medfield Rail Trail accepted a mandate from the Select Board to maintain the trail “at no cost to the town”, we have acquired equipment and materials to get the job done. Keeping equipment at our homes and having to haul it to the site with trailers made recruiting new volunteers and doing ad-hoc trail work challenging. We needed a place to keep everything on the trail where it is easily accessible and keys can be shared.

The Select Board approved a shed in the area along West Mill Street at a meeting in December of 2025. Funding was obtained through a Medfield Foundation’s Legacy Fund grant in the amount of $3,500 in the spring of 2026.

A Troop 89 Eagle Scout candidate, James Murphy, took on the project, ordered materials, and completed the construction over 3 weekends in June and July of 2026.

The shed is a 10’x14′ structure built on blocks.
