Some of these projects can be funded by the Friends, some will require appearing at a Select Board meeting for approval by the town, others may require additional approval steps. We have specifications.Kiosks with contentConstruct a kiosk at Ice House Rd for display of a map, photos, announcements, and other information. A 2nd kiosk is needed at the Farm Street crossing.Whistle post restorationStraighten up the 2 whistle posts, patch the missing concrete, paint them black, white and grey, add a sign explaining the purpose of whistle posts. We have tentative funding for an interpretive sign about Farm Street Station. As an example, at the bottom of this page there is a document with interpretive signs along the Upper Charles Rail Trail.Battery box restorationPatch the missing concrete, repair the lid, paint the lid and concrete, add a sign explaining the purpose of battery boxes.Bridge (to Terabithia)Rebuild the bridge near the beaver dam connecting the rail trail to the Sawmill Brook island trails with a permanent structure. This project requires the filing of a Notice of Intent with the Conservation Commission and DEP on behalf of the town of Medfield.
